Mom's Paintings

Miss Bennie's Art Wing

Mom's painting on either side of the door is the same as her shirt. She did 2 painting of her shirt.

Joe and I just got back from visiting Mom. She is living in what I am calling the Miss Bennie's Art Wing of the Gardens of Wetumpka. Mom is the only person living on that side of the assisted living. They now have 7 people in her building. When I asked when she was getting someone to live on her side, she quickly informed me that she hoped the didn't . She would have to give up her art room and the 2 extra closets that she has now. So heaven help the administrative staff when they move someone on her "wing."

Mom's Wing has all her paintings hanging in the hall way to the dining area. She was gracious and let me take pictures of her and her work.

Happy Birthday Shawn

His eyes were very blue from the very start. Now 38 years later those eyes are still blue like the sky. Happy Birthday Shawn! We had a little party with Catie, Peter, Julia and Alex. Here are a few pictures.

Gatlinburg - Been there done that this year!

The trip to Gatlinburg is over and we are all sad. This year was very nice and relaxing for all. Unfortunately, Joe got sick on the way up and by Saturday, I had come down with a sinus infection. Hopefully everyone else is healthy and well. I am posting a few pictures from the trip that we took with Joe and Martha Anne to Cades Cove. It was chilly but lots of fun looking for deer and other animals. Well there is always next year.

Happy New Year

Well, we have done it again - finished another year. I am not sad to see 2008 go. It is time to start a new year with new hopes and dreams. Hopefully, the stock market will be better to us in 2009. Hopefully, the wars will cease. Hopefully, family and friends will prosper in this new year.

This afternoon, I met Sandy Myrick for our annual New Year Eve movie. Sandy and I have a standing "date" for a movie to end the year. Today movie was "Marley and Me" - it was funny and sad. At the end Sandy said, "How come you always pick these movies that I think is going to be funny and I end up crying?" I guess next year it will have to be her pick. We did enjoy it but I really enjoyed her company and friendship more than the movie.

My wish for everyone - a peaceful and safe New Year's Eve and the start to 2009 to be a blessing for you.
